Muzi Thoba, Thandi Mdluli, Sarah Jarman, Dave Alcock, Lawrence Ngubane, Mercia Kirsten, Nick Alcock |
Nick Alcock
Nick Alcock is a Civil Engineering Graduate of UCT and has recently completed his MSc in Urban Infrastructure Design and Management. He has been working in the fields of training, communications and community development for over 15 years. Recently he has managed a number of large scale sustainable development programmes for eThekwini Municipality including the IWRM and EPWP farm support programme, the Mzinyathi household rainwater project. He also managed the retrofitting of 30 houses in Cato Manor for COP17 on behalf of the Green Building Council of South Africa.
Lawrence Ngubane
Lawrence Ngubane has extensive experience in community development, management of accredited training programmes and public participation. Over the past few years he has managed a customer service programme for the eThekwini Water Department which addresses problems such as arrears, leaks, high consumption and illegal connections. He has also managed similar programmes for Sembcorp Siza Water in the Ilembe District Municipality and was extensively involved in stakeholder engagement for the Cato Manor Green Street project on behalf of the Green Building Council of South Africa.
Dave Alcock
Originally a farmer, Dave has always striven for the implementation of sustainable technologies within the community development sector. Some of the technologies with which he has extensive experience include:
• Biogas digestors
• Ram pumps
• Spiral water wheels (a form of pump)
• Rainwater Harvesting
• Various Agricultural practices
• Organic composting
Muzi Thoba
Muzi has extensive experience working on rural farms to improve agricultural systems and technologies. He has undertaken the onsite management of infrastructure installation including biogas digesters, fencing, irrigation systems, land preparation (cutting of field contours) and crop planting. He is also highly skilled in community liaison, facilitation and training.
Sarah Jarman
Sarah specializes in database and GIS management. She has extensive experience in the use of the following software and systems:
• Arcview
• Access
• eThekwini Databases including Coins and the clipboard system
